Battlefield Line Railway
The Battlefield Line Railway is a heritage railway line with trains departing from Shackerstone Station in Leicestershire. It is the last remaining part of the former Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway which was first opened in 1873.
Things to do at Battlefield Line Railway
Their main station of Shackerstone is at the northern end of the line and it is the headquarters of the railway with a museum Victorian tea room, shop, and loco shed and their main rolling stock are located here. There is ample free parking and the Ashby Canal is nearby.
They run steam, diesel and railcar train services with small stations along the line. It is not just a train ride but a journey into history as well.
You can visit them on regular open days or on one of their many special event days. The train journeys are 5 miles long and you will enjoy some lovely views. Much of the track runs alongside the Ashby Canal and each station is accessible for narrowboat visitors.
