Blackpool Zoo

There is lots to see at Blackpool Zoo with over 1000 animals to visit and you can easily spend all day there when it’s nice weather however it usually takes around 3-4 hours to see everything. There are several animal shows and talks around the zoo so if you wanted to see all of these you may be there even longer.
Things to see and do at Blackpool Zoo
I highly recommend going to see the sea lion show as it’s one of my personal favourites. Blackpool Zoo is located a little away from the main high street, about 10 minutes by car or there is a bus from the central library to the zoo entrance that comes every hour and takes about 15 minutes.
At the zoo you can see elephants, tigers, gorillas, sea lions and lemurs. The majority of enclosures are outside however there are also a few indoor areas like the Ape House and the Reptile House. As well as the animals, on the property, there are small exhibits around the zoo with information about animal conservation and their natural habitat. You will also find the dinosaur safari, an outdoor, walkthrough exhibit containing life-size models and information about these creatures that used to walk the earth.
Other things to do at Blackpool zoo include the Playbarn, which is an indoor children’s play area, several outdoor play areas, the largest being Orang-u-tangle near the orangutan outlook, and a miniature train which rides around the zoo. The train goes to the Children’s farms which is a hands-on, interactive area where farmyard animals, can be held or petted. If you want to get even more hands-on, the zoo offers a range of animal experiences, that cost extra, including becoming a keeper for a day, animal feeding and meeting the animals, up close and personal.
