Things to do at Bowhill House review

Bowhill House and Country Estate is a stately home built in 1812 set in a country park near Selkirk in Scotland. It is nestled beside winding glens and heathery hills. On certain days it is possible to view the house by guided tour. There are gardens, an adventure playground and walking trails.

The estate is blessed with an abundance of glorious scenery. As well as enjoying grand views the gardens have a rose garden, rock garden and a sunken garden that you can explore. There is a fun adventure playground set in the woods at Bowhill.

There are two exciting zip wires that are each an impressive 30 metres long. They have two embankment slides one with a 12-metre tunnel slide and the other an 8-metre long open slide. These are placed on platform towers and connected with a fun rope bridge. There is a large wooden fort to play in, swings and musical instruments.

At Bowhill there are a number of walks ranging from 1.5 miles up to 7 miles. The trails are waymarked and there is something to suit everyone with leisurely strolls in the woods or a challenging walk up into the hills.

Indoors there is Nutty the Squirrel’s soft play. This is ideal for children aged between nine months and six years. It is open throughout the summer season and costs £2 per child for an hour-long session.
