Things to do Cannock Chase review
Part of the Forestry Commission, Cannock Chase is fantastic for everything outdoors.
Parking is most popular at Birches Valley, which is £6 per day. With 4 walking trails, 4 cycling trails, a Go Ape, Segway riding, and even a dog activity trail, there really is something for everyone.
There is a cycle hire if you want to experience the trails without getting your own bike dirty. They also offer tuition and tips, and a bike washes too. Pingle Slade is a large open area within the Pine Forest. Perfect for picnics, barbecues and ball games. Pingle Slade is just a short walk from the car park/main visitor area. If you follow the signs for the Ladyhill trail this will bring you out to Pingle Slade. Please note; barbecues must be raised off the ground, have water to extinguish it and take away all embers. No gas barbecues are allowed.
Play facilities for children are located all around the forest. At the car park, there are swings, slides and assault courses. Along the Ladyhill walking trail, you will find the 3 bears chairs, fairy trees, and lots of play areas to run wild in. Can you find the Gruffalo too? Trail maps are available to purchase from Go Ape, Grounds café & Cannock Chase Cycle Centre for £1.50.
For self-guided walking, there are other areas of Cannock Chase to explore. Park at Marquis Drive and experience more trails, including accessible routes for people with disabilities.
There is an adventure playground for the children and a visitor centre with a cafe. For something to do indoors, head to the Museum of Cannock Chase for a play with vintage toys and games, and to learn about the mining history surrounding the Chase.
Please note – Most places may still require you to pre-book online in advance. Some venues also still have certain areas closed for safety reasons. Please check their website and/or social media pages before visiting.
