Cawdor Castle and Gardens

Cawdor Castle and Gardens

The Cawdor Castle and Gardens are located in Cawdor near Nairn in the Scottish Highlands. The castle is the ancestral home of the Campbells of Cawdor and it was built around a 15th-century tower house with substantial later additions.

The castle with its iron gate, moat and drawbridge plus turrets and turnpike stairs is steeped in intrigue and history. You can explore 12 principal rooms of this unique home with a vaulted 16th-century kitchen, rare tapestries, furniture and more.

There are three very different gardens to explore within the grounds, each with its own unique history and appearance. There was once a maze but it is now closed to protect it for future generations. In the wider grounds, there are over 10 miles of nature trails to explore. An exciting new play park was installed in 2021. It features a climbing frame, a big swing and an impressive slide.
