Chiltern Open Air Museum is a large picturesque site in Chalfont St Giles Buckinghamshire. It is home to over 30 rescued and reconstructed historic buildings that take you on a tour through time and history.

What is there to do at Chiltern Open Air Museum?

Buildings include a reconstructed Iron Age House and Medieval and Tudor barns. Plus Victorian buildings including a Victorian far, toll house, a forge, a tin chapel, a vicarage room and a newly-rebuilt Wychert Cottage. They even have a further 15 buildings in store awaiting funds for their re-erection.

You can see a small historic working farm which demonstrates traditional farming techniques from the past. They have rare breed animals and orchards and they grow heritage crops. Around the buildings, you will find small traditional gardens that complement the buildings they surround. There is even a Dig for Victory allotment showing vegetables they would have grown during the war.

There is also an adventure playground for the kids. It has been inspired by the site’s unique heritage buildings with their own toll house, van and Anderson shelter to play in. They also host yearly family-friendly events.
