Danish Camp
Danish Camp is located close to Willington in Bedfordshire. It is a Norwegian log cabin with a cafe surrounded by woodland on the banks of the Great Ouse River. They offer boat trips and boat hire. The site dates back to Viking times and is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Danes, navigating from as far away as the North Sea set up a camp to care for their ships there.
Things to do at Danish Camp
They are situated halfway between Bedford and Sandy and they are ideally located for a leisure ride between the two. You can rent bicycles if you don’t have any with you. You can also hire their self-drive boats for one hour. They are powered by electric outboard motors and are suitable for up to 4 passengers. They provide buoyancy aids.
The Artful Dodger is their river cruise boat. They sail on and off throughout most of the year. You can enjoy breakfasts, lunches and cream teas served on board (these must be pre-ordered).
They also have a wildfowl collection, the only one left in Bedfordshire that is open to the public. You can prebook on escorted tours that run at scheduled times from Spring until autumn. Group visits by arrangement can be arranged throughout the year, weather permitting. In the warmer months, they have a free, bouncy castle for the kids and crazy golf at £4 for adults and £2 for kids.

There is a cafe serving hot and cold food and drinks. Picnics are not permitted as they are primarily an eating venue.

One hour boat hire costs £30. River cruise adults £12, children £6. There is a charge for crazy golf and bike hire.
