Things to do Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre review

After suffering a terrible fire in 2019, Gentleshaw has been building its way back up and dealing with the losses of some of its animals. They have housed rescue animals since 1993 and is a small but pleasant animal centre to visit.

There is an activity pack available for £1 per child which can be completed around the centre. Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre is a registered charity and a small sanctuary for exotic animals and birds of prey. As well as a hospital unit for the treatment of wild raptors, (not on display), the centre is home to over 30 different species of Bird of prey, Primate, Reptile, Invertebrate, Raccoons, Cats and many more.

There is a Bird Of Prey experience for £35 if you would like to get up close and personal. The birds kept at Gentleshaw are flown every day at 2 pm on weekends and in the school holidays, so you
can catch a display if you time it right.

Gentlshaw is located next to a garden centre and also has a miniature train, playground and mini-golf. You can spend a nice afternoon if you take it slowly and experience all of the animals. The animals at Gentleshaw all have a story to tell, such as Kasumi the raccoon dog, whose previous owner kept him in a crate. He is now behaving better after good care from the staff at Gentleshaw. The animals are clearly well loved and have a forever home at the sanctuary.

Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places still require you to pre-book online in advance.
