Gisburn Forest and Stocks

Gisburn Forest and Stocks are maintained by Forestry England and are located near Slaidburn in Lancashire. You can explore the trails and experience a sense of space and freedom with a range of walking, cycling and mountain biking trails.
The Birch Hills walk and tramper trail is an easy walking path through mixed woodland with views over Stocks Reservoir. You will pass two wildlife hides, a picnic area and the old vicarage garden. They also have orienteering at Gisburn and other walking trails including circular walks. There is usually a child-friendly activity trail in the forest which has included a Zog activity trail, a Gruffalo trail and more. Please see their website for details of the current activity trail.
Gisburn’s dramatic scenery with deep forest and challenging hills provides the perfect backdrop for their award-winning mountain bike trails. There are demanding climbs and exhilarating downhills. There is also a bike hire centre and you can pick up a map of their cycle trails.
