Hanningfield Reservoir Nature Discovery Park

Hanningfield Reservoir Nature Discovery Park

Hanningfield Reservoir Nature Discovery Park is located between Billericay and Chelmsford in Essex. Their Wind in the Willows trail is popular with families and the reservoir itself is nationally important for its populations of wildfowl.

You can enjoy panoramic views over the 870-acre reservoir from the Nature Discovery Centre. There is mature woodland that has a beautiful carpet of bluebells in the spring. Plus there are bird hides for spotting the abundance of wildfowl.

There are a number of beautiful walks through the woodland that take in the bird hides, ponds and views of the reservoir. A trail guide is available from the Discovery Centre. There is also an adventure playground plus the Wind in the Willows sculpture trail. The trail consists of wooden sculptures of the most popular characters from the classic book. At each sculpture, there is a brass rubbing of the animal that the sculpture depicts.
