Things to do at Maldon Promenade Park review

Promenade Park is a large park in Maldon, Essex. It is popular with families especially in the summer with its large splash pad and other fun things to do.

The park is over 100 years old and has avenues of mature trees and recreation areas. There is an ornamental lake. with fountains, swans, ducks and more. Make sure you take some bird-friendly food with you. There is a sandpit and play areas plus a skate park.

The Valley in Promenade Park is home to Maldon’s famous splash park. It is open on certain dates between March and September. Next to this is the Galleon. This is a large activity feature in the shape of an old sailing ship. Kids can have fun climbing and sliding plus there’s a zip wire. You can even hire a beach hut for the day. Also in this area is the 18 hole Pirate Bay adventure Golf with talking pirates, cannons, water explosions and a huge pirate ship.

If that’s not enough fun there’s a model boating and crabbing lake. If you walk along the bath wall to the statue of Early Byrhtnoth you can take in the view of the Blackwater including the site of the Battle of Maldon in 996. The area at the other end of the park has another children’s playground with a maze and wildlife area. Next to the main gates, you will find the Maldon museum with displays relating to the towns’ history.
