Hawk Conservancy Trust
The Hawk Conservancy Trust is located near Andover in Hampshire. They have feeding and flying displays and the centre is home to around 150 birds of prey and is set in 22 acres of woodland with wildflower meadows.
Each day they run a full timetable of activities to suit all ages with a changing schedule throughout the year. During the summer they have three world-class flying demonstrations a day where up to 20 of their birds fly above and around you. In the colder months, they may run one or two flying demonstrations a day. Around the grounds, there is a Giant Top Trumps trail. There are 10 to find and at the end, children will be given a special Super Top Trumps card. A day often starts with the chance to meet their vultures and there is a daily talk about one of their birds.
Children can hop on a tractor-trailer ride for a fun and bumpy ride around Reg’s Meadow. This is available during school holidays and at weekends, weather permitting. There is also a children’s playground which has a bird of prey theme. You can also take a peak through the windows of their National Bird of Prey Hospital. They can receive and treat up to 200 sick, injured or orphaned birds of prey each year.
They also have a number of encounters. These include a VIP Meet the Burrowers encounter which lasts for 30 minutes and participants must be aged 6 and over. This has an additional cost of £19.50 pp. Other experiences that also have a higher cost include A day with birds of prey, bird of prey experience, owl experience, children’s owl experience, family bird of prey experience and more. Prices and minimum age requirements vary.
