Hogshaw Farm and Wildlife Park

Hogshaw Farm and Wildlife Park

Vicky says – This is my favourite local open farm. I’ve been visiting ever since it opened some years ago and we’ve never had a bad visit. It has the perfect balance of price and facilities. There is a good variety and number of animals, on the farm.

What is there do at Hogshaw Farm and Wildlife Park

You have your typical farm animals, such as sheep, cows, goats and pigs, some of which you can feed by hand. There’s not just one or two of each though, there are loads. They’ve also got some less typical animals, including a chameleon, bearded dragon and stick insects.

They do regular sessions where you can hold some of these animals. There are also rabbits, horses, donkeys, chickens and ducks. The “farm animals,” part of Green Dragon is very large and there’s a walk you can do around the perimeter which takes a fair amount of time to do.

Recently they opened their wildlife zone. This is excellent and has animals, such as the red squirrel, reindeer, lynx, wallabies, silver fox and lots of birds. They’re now able to do flying shows with the birds and they’re using the zone as a conservation area.

Non-animal-related facilities outside are go-karts, ride-on tractors, a really good adventure playground, a toddler playground, a bouncing pillow and massive sand-pits. Inside there’s a sandpit with a dinosaur fossil hidden in the sand and a soft play frame. This isn’t a massive frame but it’s clean and the kids enjoy it.
