Things to do at Howletts Wild Animal Park review
Howletts Animal Park is a large zoo located just outside of Canterbury in Kent. It’s home to a huge number of animals from across the world and makes a really great day out for all the family. From elephants to giraffes, gorillas to tigers, this is the place to go if it’s the bigger animals you’re looking for. There are, however, smaller attractions too, such as bears, birds, and you can even walk through the Lemur enclosure, to view them up close.
Try to go around Easter time, as the gorillas usually welcome some new arrivals, and if you’re lucky you might get to see one of their really cute babies.
If your kids still want to burn off some steam there’s a play area near the main restaurant. If you’re after something a little more exciting though, an ‘Animal Adventure Challenge’, consisting of slides and zip lines which is always really popular with the kids aged 2-5 – this one costs an additional £2.50 each though. For older children and adults a ‘tree top challenge’ of zip wires is available. Again, this costs extra – £7 each, and remember to wear appropriate footwear.
The park has just recently introduced an App too, which allows you to view the animals through augmented reality technology, which sounds like a lot of fun for some of the older children.
Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places still require you to pre-book online in advance.
