Idle Valley Nature Reserve

The Idle Valley Nature Reserve is maintained by the Notts Wildlife Trust and is located near Retford in Nottinghamshire. It is a wetland of Special Scientific Interest. The reserve is over 3 miles long and covers 450 hectares.
There are four designated walking routes within the reserve. It is home to a diverse range of wildlife and there are plenty of birds to look out for. There is a natural play area for the kids and you can hire kids activity packs from the centre to help make their visit more interesting and educational.
There are 2500 metres of accessible paths, including 5 scenic viewing screens and a nature viewing platform. Make sure you take some paper and pencils for their bronze rubbing trail and keep an eye out for sculptures dotted around the trails.

Is there food and drink available?
There is a cafe serving hot and cold food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

What are the ticket prices?
The nature reserve is free to visit, there is a small charge if arriving by car.
Is there parking?
Car Parking is available, they kindly ask for a suggested donation of £3 to park.
When are they open?

Dog friendly?
Dogs are welcome and must be kept under control.
Are they accessible?
There is disabled parking on site and many of the trails around the reserve are suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Contact the Trust for more information.
