Islay Natural History Trust

The Islay Natural History Trust is a charity dedicated to wildlife and geology on Islay, Argyll and Bute. Established in 1984 they aim to encourage the observation and appreciation of Islay’s natural beauty to locals and visitors by providing information and interpretation. The centre is located in Port Charlotte on the Isle of Islay.

You can visit the nature centre where you can browse their exhibits and marvel at their aquariums. They have marine and freshwater aquariums including a touch tank. You can discover your inner scientist as you make your way around the centre. In their laboratory, children can develop their skills and learn more about nature.

They host a number of natural history walks, children’s activities and talks throughout the peak season. In winter the island is home to tens of thousands of geese and over 100 breeding species plus spring and autumn migration.
