Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary
The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary is located near Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. It rescues and supports unwanted and abandoned donkeys in the UK and the site is around 55 acres in size.
They provide their donkeys with a loving forever home where their health and welfare are taken good care of. They are run by a charity which relies entirely on donations, adoptions and fundraising. They are open all year round apart from Christmas day and have free parking and free entry – although donations are gratefully accepted.
There are over 100 donkeys and Shetland ponies waiting for you to meet and interact with them. You may even be able to help with grooming, mucking out and walking, subject to availability. There is usually a small charge for the additional activities. They have an information trail around the site and a donkey spotting sheet is given for free on arrival. They also run free family-friendly events throughout the year.
