Things to do at Kelburn Castle and Estate review

The Kelburn Castle is a colourfully painted castle on an estate with play areas near Largs in North Ayrshire, Scotland. The house is based around a 13th-century castle that had an amazing makeover thanks to a team of Brazilian artists. It is one of the oldest castles in Scotland and the house and grounds are open to the public. There are also 8 yurts that you can hire and stay overnight.

The glen and gardens have plenty to offer and there are some different special features to spot. Look out for the entrance to the Secret Forest. It is filled with magic and adventure and you never know what creatures you may meet along the way. The Secret Forest has a fairy tale inspired maze, a witches cottage, a giants castle and more.

There are a few outdoor play areas including an adventure park and a wild western saloon. Children can discover swings, tunnels, scramble nets, stepping stones, and lots more. Indoors there is a play barn with an exciting maze of slides, creepy caves, a ball pool, a climbing wall and a castle. Make sure you find the incredible waterfall.

You can also explore the gardens by following one of their many spectacular walks where you can take in views and nature. You can view the inside of the house on guided tours. The castle is known as the Graffiti castle with vibrant Brazilian art. It is still the private home of the Earl of Glasgow and his family. Tours are only available on set dates.
