Llanberis Lake Railway
The Llanberis Lake Railway operates steam engine journeys alongside the picturesque lake in Llanberis, North Wales. It is a narrow-gauge heritage railway that runs for 2.5 miles along the northern shore of Llyn Padarn.
Their little steam engines take you on the 5-mile return trip. You will pass the 13th-century Dolbadarn Castle, across a short river and past Llanberis’ twin lakes. The train then runs through the Padarn Country Park and joins the 1845 slate railway route. Here you can enjoy some stunning views of Snowdown, England’s and Wales’s highest peak.
The train then stops briefly at Cei Llydan which is a lovely place for a lakeside picnic lunch. It also stops briefly at Gilfach Ddu where you can visit the National Slate Museum. The whole trip takes around 60 minutes with the option to spend time at the other stations. The railway hosts a number of annual events.
