Museum Overview

The Manx Museum is located in Douglas on the Isle of Man. It is the island’s National museum and it covers the 10,000 years of history of the island from the stone age to the modern era.

It is partially housed in the original Noble’s hospital building and was first opened in 1922. It was expanded in 1986-89 and now includes a film theatre and art gallery. There are a number of permanent exhibitions ranging from archaeological history to natural history plus several temporary themed exhibitions which are shown each year.

It is bursting with artefacts and treasures plus there are a number of interactive displays. You can see Viking hoards of silver and gold, find out more about the oldest continuous Parliament in the world and learn more about Mann at War. Plus the world-famous TT races, its legendary riders and their motorbikes.
