Melbourne Raceway

Attraction Overview
Melbourne Raceway is an outdoor track that hosts drag racing events, near York, North Yorkshire. It was reopened in late 2020 after a massive fundraising effort that saved it from extinction.
The site was once an RAF grass airfield which was re-developed as a standard RAF Bomber command airfield with three concrete runways. Drag racing first came to the former RAF field in 1977 and a new track was created and laid in June 2020.
They now run a variety of weekend events, with cars and bikes. A full list of events can be found on their website. In the raceway, competitors compete side by side on a two-lane track. The racers take off from a standing start and you can expect dramatic tyre burnouts and more. It’s certainly something a bit different!
