Mount Stuart Isle of Bute
Mount Stuart is a 19th-century mansion located near Rothesay on the Isle of Bute in Scotland. It is a country house built in the Gothic Revival style and it is the ancestral home of the Marquesses of Bute.
The original house was built in 1719 but was severely damaged by fire. Many of the contents that survived have been incorporated into the house you see today. The interiors have been inspired by astrology, art and mythology dazzles which include a map of the stars on the ceiling of the Marble Hall. The house is filled with innovations including what is believed to be the world’s first domestic heated swimming pool.
Their 300-acre gardens boast arboricultural and horticultural collections of global significance. You can explore the arboretum with trees dating back to the estate’s early days and the pinetums with more than 800 towering conifers. The highlights of the gardens are the Wee garden, the kitchen garden and the rock garden.
