National Horse Racing Museum
Museum Overview
The National Horse Racing Museum is located in Newmarket, Suffolk. It is a 5-acre site with a museum art galleries and the chance to meet some former racehorses.
In the museum, there are displays relating to social history, science and the museum’s art collections. These displays date from the 17th century to the present day. There are interactive and audiovisual displays that take a look at the sport of horseracing and examine what it takes for a horse to become elite. They even have a fun racehorse simulator.
The Rothschild Yard has been returned to its former glory to stable retrained racehorses. There are four galleries detailing the work of the charity and it is here that you can meet former racehorses. They run twice daily behind-the-scenes tours and every day the tour is different. Tous take around 30 minutes. They also host a number of annual events, with family-friendly school holiday activities, trails and more.
