Things to do at National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth review
The aquarium is situated on the edge of the bay in Plymouth with impressive views of the harbour. It is the largest aquarium in the UK and it is an education conservation venue with daily shows and more. It is home to over 4,000 sea creatures and you can even sleep with the sharks there!
There are four separate zones in the aquarium. The first is called Plymouth sound. This showcases many species of fish which live in and around the coast of Plymouth. You will be amazed at what lives in the local waters. Zone two is the British coast with a hall with replica whales and dolphins. They have interactive displays and activities and a floor to ceiling tank with a huge resident conger eel.
Next is the Atlantic zone with a walkway overlooking jellyfish and coral breeding laboratories and then through a tunnel with glass panels above and below. This is the largest tank in the UK with 2 and a half million litres of water and a life-size sunken replica plane. They have several species of sharks, a turtle and rays. Finally, the Blue planet contains coral reefs and fish that live in them. They have daily talks around the aquarium and films.
There is a soft play area which is at an additional extra cost.
