Things to do at Nene Valley Railway review
Nene Valley Railway runs between Peterborough Nene Valley and Yarwell Junction. The track is 7 1/2 miles in length. There are stations at each terminus and three stops en route Orton Mere, Ferry Meadows and Wansford. They have standard travel days but they also have lots of special events throughout the year. These include their Santa express, Winter light spectacular, Thomas big adventure and half-term specials.
You are welcome to alight at the different stops and explore the stations on standard travel days. During special events, there will usually be extra activities and a more strict schedule. Most of the trains that run are steam trains.
“Most people choose to begin their day at our Wansford Station at Stibbington or at Peterborough Station adjacent to Railworld Wildlife Haven – however, you can also join the train at any of our other stations; Orton Mere, Overton (For Ferry Meadows) or Yarwell. (Please note that some Special Events may require pre-purchased tickets only).“
At Wansford station, there is a viewing platform where you can see current restoration work. There is also a cute miniature railway, play area near the car park and a cafe. You can also climb up into a couple of their engines. It is worth checking their website to see what else there is to do at other stations.
Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places still require you to pre-book online in advance.
