Things to do at Quarry Bank National Trust review

Quarry Bank is a great National Trust to visit with kids. There are so many things to do whatever the weather. The site is a great industrial heritage community. There is the option to go on a guided tour of the apprentice house to learn about the children that lived there and worked in the mill.

You can wander round the Mill owners house or visit the mill to see Heritage cotton mill machinery still in action. There is also a temporary exhibition space at the top of the mill which changes frequently.

You could take the short stroll to Styal village to see where the other mill workers lived and tour a workers cottage as well as explore the village hub where you can learn all about the living conditions of the workers. Continue along the path to the woods where you can follow one of several paths to wander through the woods. Kids will love playing pooh sticks on the bridge.

Quarry Bank also has stunning gardens and a restored glass house. There is a small play area with a slide, tunnel, swing and climbing frame. This is next to a picnic area. There are 2 shops and a second hand bookshop. There are always lots of great kids activities going on during the school holidays. Everything from welly walks, crafts and storytelling sessions.

Covid 19 – Please check the website or social media of an attraction before visiting. Many places may be open differently and some remain closed. Reviews do not mention all of these changes or possible price changes. Most places still require you to pre-book online in advance.
