Things to do at Raglan Castle review

Raglan Castle is in Raglan, Gwent, Wales. It is a Welsh fortress-palace that was transformed into a regal residence. The 15th-century castle is characterised by its pale colour and has a complete hexagonal keep known as the Great Tower or the Yellow Tower of Gwent. The castle is surrounded by parkland, water gardens and terraces.

The castle was held on behalf of Charles I during the English Civil war, it was later taken by parliamentary forces in 1646. The castle fell into decline first becoming a source of local building materials, then a romantic ruin and now it attracts visitors as a modern tourist attraction. It has actually been a tourist attraction since the mid 18th century.

Today the castle is classed as a grade 1 listed building and a scheduled monument. It is administered by Cadw. Digital trails of the castle are available on the Cadw App. There are different levels you can explore and various parts of the ruin that you can access. The beauty of the castle can be seen for miles around.
