The REME museum is in Lyneham, near Chippenham in Wiltshire. The museum tells the story of the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers from their foundation in 1942 to their work today.

Museum Overview

The museum cares for thousands of items many of which are on display. Their collection includes specialist recovery vehicles, medals, weapons, uniforms, models and more. The collection is enhanced by interactive and immersive displays perfect for engaging people while being educational.

The museum has activities to keep all the family busy with trails, worksheets and workshops. For their younger visitors, they offer seasonal, trails full of objects to spot and questions to answer during their visit. You can pick a trail map up from their front desk. Older children may want to give one of their quizzes a try. They even have an outdoor assault course and they host a number of family-friendly events.

There is a cafe just outside the main gates serving hot and cold food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.
