Things to do at RHS Garden Bridgewater review

RHS Garden Bridgewater, Greater Manchester is a vast garden owned and maintained by the RHS. The garden dates to the reign of Queen Victoria and it has since been revived and features surviving period details.

There are a number of themed gardens including a large walled garden, kitchen garden and a paradise garden. The Chinese streamside garden covers just over seven acres and features a series of small pools and weirs. Plus orchard gardens, a meadow and a lake. Moon Bridge water is a tranquil lake with more than 3,000 aquatic and marginal specimens.

Kids will love the woodland play area that is set in the heart of Middle Wood. It features wild play in a series of zoned glades and it also covers seven acres. There is a low ropes course, a hide-and-seek trail, spider web nets, basket swings, climbing grames, den building and more. There is also plenty to encourage imaginative play including Hobbit Houses, mud kitchens and fairy homes.

There is also the Peel Learning garden with different ecological zones that show how plants adapt to the challenges of each. Highlights include sensory and edible planting plus a greenhouse with exotic plants, practical activities and experimenting.

They run a range of yearly events, including family-friendly events, and activities including a winter light trail.
