River Dart Country Park is an action-packed family-friendly day out near Ashburton in Devon. Set in 90 acres of parkland the park is packed with activities and there is also a campsite. There are age, height and weight restrictions on some activities.

What can you do at River Dart Country Park?

Activities for children from around 8 and over (some are for younger children as well) include canoeing for up to 3 people, kayaking and a mega zip wire. Jump from a 15-metre treetop platform down a 150m long wire and over their lake. Minimum age 8. There is a high ropes course with 21 elements to test your nerves and confidence. The course takes around 45 minutes and the minimum age to take part is 8.

The park is home to Dartmoor Bike Park. There is an impressive free, ride area, a skills area with four graded runs and more. Other activities include an adventure playground, a lake you can swim and splash about in with a pirate ship to play on in the lake and a mini island.

Plus there’s even more with an agility trail, jungle fun area, low ropes course, obstacle course and a secret valley. Plus a space net, spider web, toddlers, beach and playground, tyre swings, wooden play fort and so much more. Most of these activities are included in your day ticket.

Is there food and drink available?

There is the Old Sawmill cafe which serves hot and cold food and drinks. There is also a kiosk by the pirate ship in the summer. You are welcome to picnic in the park, there is a limited amount of undercover picnic areas.

What are the main things to do?

adventure park with high ropes, watersports, lake swimming and play, play areas, a bike park and so much more. There are toilets and places to purchase food and drinks.

What are the ticket prices?

Prices do vary but high peak adult and child (over 5) tickets are £13.20 each, 3-4 £7.15 and under 2s are free. Other pricing options are available. Some activities have an additional charge such as canoeing £10 per boat. Zip wire £8 a turn. High ropes £19 pp. Bike park £4 pp. But most are included in your ticket.

Is there parking?

Parking is free in high season, there is a charge of £8 for all day during low season as the entrance price is cheaper.

When are they open?

The River Dart Country Park is open almost all year round, they close over the winter. For up-to-date opening times and dates please visit their website.

Dog friendly?

Dogs are welcome on a lead. You must purchase a ticket for your dog which costs £5. They are not permitted in some areas.
