The Rother Valley Country Park is a multi-recreational park near Sheffield and Rotherham in South Yorkshire. It covers 3 square kilometres and has four artificial lakes plus nature reserves. It is a great family-friendly day out with walks, activities on the lakes and more.

Things to do at Rother Valley Country Park

The park has plenty of open spaces and you can enjoy cycling and walking on their pathways. The park has a free play area plus you can take a ride on their miniature train (a small charge applies). The play area has swings, climbing equipment and more. It is located at the Miniature train station Pennine Way. If you can’t bring the bikes there is a cycle hire centre with a wide range of bikes available to hire.

There is an activity centre on the main lake which offers a wide range of activities. You can hire pedal boats for up to 4 people, rowing boats for up to 4, canoes for 1,2 and 3 people. They even have water zorbing and Miniport electric ships. They also offer lessons and taster sessions. You can even book an instructor to have a go at archery. In the warmer months, there is one of the biggest inflatable parks in the UK. “Total Wipeout” is an aqua park assault course on the water. Children from 7 can take part but they must be able to swim. Charges apply for all the activities on the lake.

There is a cafe serving hot and cold food and drinks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

Large country park with lakes, enjoy walking and cycling. There is a play area, watersport activities, boating, aqua park, animals, and more. There are toilets and a cafe.

What are the ticket prices?

The park is free, to visit. A charge applies to many of the activities within the park.

Is there parking?

There are multiple places to park. The main car park and waterpark have a £5 a day charge to park.

When are they open?
