RSPB Rainham Marshes are a nature reserve located in Purfleet, Essex. It is a haven for wildlife and features a range of trails. The reserve was once a military firing range, nowadays it explodes with wildlife and it is a great place to spot rare water voles and other birds. There are a number of hides with great views that don’t always need binoculars.

You can hire bikes to explore different sections of the reserve and they often host family-friendly events,. Activities include pond dipping, a Wildlife Explorer club, a toddlers, group and more. The paths and boardwalks are suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Dog friendly?

Dogs are welcome on the river wall part of the reserve. Dogs aren’t permitted in the visitor centre, shop or café other than assistance dogs.
