Shipwreck Centre and Maritime Museum

Museum Overview

The Shipwreck Centre and Maritime Museum are located at the Arreton Barns Craft Village in Arreton on the Isle of Wight. Located within the popular craft village the centre houses the largest exhibition of its kind in the UK with most items on display coming from shipwrecks.

It is bursting with thousands of relics from shipwrecks and treasures from the sea. There are “pieces of eight”, Spanish Gold and many other items that have been salvaged from galleons, steamships and wartime submarines. All items have been discovered by the dedicated diver Martin Woodward.

You can see a fascinating display of antique diving equipment, ship models and stories of pirates and smuggling. For children, there are free Pirate Trail worksheets, a treasure hunt, crack the code activity, brass rubbings and more.
