Tatton Park

Tatton Park Tatton Park Tatton Park

If you want to spend all day out with your family, then Tatton Park in Cheshire is the place to go. Along with the beautiful mansion to explore, you’ve got the gardens, farm park, the old hall and extensive parkland.

What is there to do at Tatton Park?

You’ve got about 50 acres of gardens to explore, including the Japanese Gardens, which is also “the finest example of a Japanese Garden in Europe”, the Italian Gardens at the front of the house, formal gardens, woodland and arboretum.

You and your family can get a complete picture of what the garden would have looked like when it existed in Edwardian times, you’ve also got the original Victorian Walled Kitchen Garden, the New Zealand Fernery and Orangery Glass houses, and the Pleasure Gardens.

If you decide to explore the parkland, you will hopefully be lucky enough to watch the herds of deer and also enjoy the views of the lake. Once you have enjoyed exploring the house and extensive grounds, you’ll be pleased to know that there is a great picnic spot near the car park, and also a children’s play area as well if they still need to let some energy off.

Once you have enjoyed a quick sit down in the picnic spot, you should head over to the farm as well. This is perfect for families with young children. This is an authentic 40’s working farm, where you can meet rare breed animals, and new arrivals throughout the year! (this has an entrance fee). There is so much for families (and grown-ups) to do, including exploring the 18th Century Mill, meeting farm workers (past and present) and visiting Aunty Mary in the original Caretaker’s cottage.
