Traquair House

Traquair House is located in Traquair near Innerleithen in the Scottish Borders. It is Scotland’s Oldest inhabited house and over the years it has been visited by 27 Scottish Kings and Queens and dates back to 1107.

The house was originally a royal hunting lodge and it played host to Mary Queen of Scots. You can visit the house, grounds, maze, craft workshops and there is a garden cafe. Plus there is the world-famous Traquair house brewery situated in one of the wings of the house and ales can be sampled in their shop.

You can trace the footsteps of the kings of Scotland as you climb the staircase and explore the house. You can discover how priests escaped in times of danger and see the collections of embroideries, letters and other relics.

Outdoors you can explore the extensive grounds and woodlands. Kids will love the hedge maze and adventure playground. They also host a range of annual events and exhibitions and you can even stay in one of their luxurious antique-furnished rooms.

There is a cafe serving food and drinks. You are welcome to picnic outdoors.

What are the ticket prices?

House and garden tickets cost £12 per adult, children aged 5-14 £6, under 5 are free and garden tickets are cheaper. Family tickets are available.

Dog friendly?

Dogs are allowed within the grounds while on a lead at all times. Only assistance dogs are allowed in the house.
