Waddesdon Manor
Waddesdon Manor is breathtaking and was voted the best Christmas experience in the UK for 2019. As you can imagine, when there are events on this means that it gets very busy but they are good at coping with this. As well as the epic manor house (which was basically meant to be a party pad/art gallery and not a family home) there is an awful lot to do in the grounds.
What is there to do at Waddesdon Manor National Trust?
There are lots of wide-open spaces to play in, massive hills to roll down and walks around the extensive grounds. The highlights have to be the Aviary, which is fairly small but a big hit with the kids. There’s also a large adventure playground which is built on a hillside track and separated into lots of different sections as you go down the path. In the top section, there’s a massive fort slide which you literally zoom out of!
There’s a long nature trail called Miss Alice’s Drive which has got lots of bug hotels, bird feeders and general nature-based stuff. Quite often this will be where the trails are based. Most families tend to spend a lot of their time here and on the playgrounds.
Throughout the year there are numerous events and there’s always something big going on during every school holiday. Christmas really is massive here though and includes an artisanal market, a decorated house and a spectacular light trail.
