The Wells and Walsingham Light Railway is a 10 1/4 in gauge heritage railway in Norfolk. It runs between the coastal town of Wells-next-the-sea and the inland village of Walsingham.
The railway has a four-mile track and despite its miniature dimensions, it is a public railway and possibly the world’s smallest public railway with the longest 10 1/4 in track in the world. Trains are mostly steam-operated although they sometimes use one of their diesel engines.
You can enjoy a half-hour trip through the beautiful Norfolk countryside while taking in the evocative sights, sounds and smells of steam travel. You will pass under bridges, pass a hill-fort and through a real ghost of a platform. There is also a play area at the Wells station.
