Wicksteed Park is one of the UK’s oldest and most loved family adventure parks, combining classic rides, huge outdoor play areas and beautiful parkland. Located in Kettering, Northamptonshire, it’s a brilliant full‑day trip for families who want a mix of traditional fun and plenty of space to explore.

The park was founded over 100 years ago by Charles Wicksteed, and today it still has that nostalgic, old‑fashioned charm while offering modern attractions for all ages. Kids can enjoy the Carousel, Dodgems, Pioneer, Rockin’ Tug, Paratrooper, and the ever‑popular Sway Rider. Younger visitors have their own dedicated zones with gentle rides, soft play and miniature adventures designed just for them.

One of the highlights is the huge playground and lakeside area, which is completely free to access. Families can wander through the gardens, relax by the lake, or let children burn off energy on the giant slides, climbing frames and sand play. The park’s open spaces make it ideal for picnics, walks and wildlife spotting, and it’s easy to spend hours here without even stepping onto a ride.

For those who want more thrills, Wicksteed offers a wristband system giving unlimited access to rides throughout the day. There are also seasonal events, character days, outdoor theatre, and special activities during school holidays.

Is there food and drink available?

There are a number of places to purchase food and drinks, including restaurants, cafes and kiosks. You are welcome to bring a picnic.

What are the main things to do?

Theme park with a number of family-friendly rides, adventure playground, crazy golf, boating and more. There are toilets and a number of places to eat.

What are the ticket prices?

The park is free, and you can pay for individual rides or purchase ride wristbands. Wristbands are around £20 per person, and under 90cm are free with a paying adult.

There is parking and charges apply.

When are they open?

Wickstead Park is open for most of the year, and some rides and attractions are seasonal. For up-to-date opening times, please visit their website.

Dog friendly?

Dogs are welcome in the park as long as they remain on a lead at all times. They are able to enter the play and ride areas as long as they remain on their lead at all times. Dogs can even go on the train. The only areas they cannot enter are animal areas such as Wicky’s Farmyard and Meerkat Manor.
