Wightwick Manor and Gardens

It is a Victorian Manor house and is one of only a few surviving examples of a house built and furnished under the influence of the Aesthetic movement and the Arts and Crafts movement. Including Williams Morris wallpapers and fabrics.
What is there to do at Wightwick Manor and Gardens?
The house was completed in two phases in 1887 and extended further in 1893. The house has 17 acres of woodland and gardens and the outbuildings include parts of an earlier Jacobean manor house. The house has a homely and friendly feel to it although many of the rooms are dark with curtains closed to protect the interior. As well as rooms you can explore there is also a gallery that you can look around.
Wightwick is a lovely garden all year round but during Spring it becomes one of the most beautiful places in the Midlands. The Mander family took their inspiration for the gardens from artists and poets. The National Trust have continued to develop the gardens with the same aesthetic principles creating spaces to spend time as a family.
They often have family-friendly activities during the school holidays such as bug hunts. In Wightwick Woods there is a woodland play area. There are a few things to scramble over and play on. Plus natural play with a balance log walkway.
