Museum Overview

Wiltshire Museum is located in the town of Devizes in Wiltshire. They are an independent charity that tells the story of the county and cares for some Nationally important collections.

There are some spectacular treasures dating to the time of Stonehenge including items made of gold. There is a recently upgraded gallery that tells the story of Wiltshire through high-quality graphics and leading-edge reconstructions.

Children can follow a gallery trail, ‘build’ Stonehenge, examine evidence under a microscope and try on Bronze Age clothes. There are also some Roman treasures and a relatively new Saxon Gallery that features the Making of the Kingdom of Wessex.
