France is a great destination for a family holiday. It’s incredibly easy to get to with short flights and easy ferry or Euro tunnel crossings. Then once you are there it’s an easy country to travel around.
There is a diverse range of campsites in France. Some are located next to or on sandy beaches, others in quiet countryside, next to a lake or amongst woodland. There is so much choice for families and we have listed our favourites to hopefully make your search that bit easier.
Domaine Des Ormes – Dol-de-Bretagne, Brittany, France
Set in 400 acres of beautiful woodland parkland the Domaine Des Ormes campsite is a great choice for families. There is plenty to do on-site including horse riding and an 18-hole golf course. A must-see nearby is the spectacular Mont St Michel.
There are 5 pools here including covered pools to cater for all weather conditions. You have six waterslides to try and there is also a sauna, lazy river and a jacuzzi. This site runs Super Fun Station kid’s clubs with something for 4 different age groups.

La Garangeoire – St Julien-Des-Landes, Vendee, France
Located in the grounds of a beautiful old chateau La Garangeoire is a medium-sized site set in a beautiful area of woods, meadows and a lake. They have a range of pitches for you to stay on that offer space, shade and locations close to the action. You have the fantastic Puy Du Fou theme park nearby plus a diverse range of facilities.
The pool complex at this site is designed to thrill with waterslides that snake between rocks and trees plus a whole range of pools to suit different ages. There is even a shallow lagoon pool surrounded by a sandy beach. For children, there are site-run kids’ clubs for ages 5-8 and 9-12. While the children are playing the adults can unwind at the spa.
For younger children aged 0-4, there is the Super Fun station with a mini driving school, messy playtime and mini archery. This is a great choice for those who love water sports. La Rive is a lakeside park with direct access to one of the best beaches and lakes in the southwest of France.

Enjoy great views over the Bay of Argeles the action-packed Le Bois De Valmarie Campsite is just a short distance from the beach. The town is perfect for people-watching with its bars and restaurants lined up along the marina.
The water park here is really impressive with a split-level pool complex that is linked by waterfalls and waterslides. There are also two lagoon-style family pools. This is the first site on our list to not have any kids’ clubs.

Le Pommier Campsite is a superb 5-star site that is situated in the heart of a nature reserve. There is plenty to do day and night at this great family-friendly site.
The highlight is its waterpark which is one of the most spectacular in France. The huge swimming paradise has three pool areas with 12 fun water slides. There is even a 25m swimming pool. Kids will love the pirate ship with waterfalls, cannons, a giant tipping bucket and multiple slides.

Located in some spectacular scenery the Castell Montgri campsite is a firm family favourite. It is ideal for nature-loving families and there is plenty of on-site fun and entertainment to be had.
The campsite has three superb pool complexes, each with a bar, sun terrace and waterslides. There are some staggering views from one of the pools and another is set amongst pine trees and is beautifully illuminated at night.

The Netherlands is a great destination for family-friendly camping holidays. Famous for its vibrant tulip fields and its wonderful windmills there is also plenty for families to do plus it’s not all that far to get to on a plane. It also has a ferry port.
Their selection of camping sites includes the hugely popular Duinrell which has a huge amount of things to do. The compact nature of the country means it is really easy to explore and it’s also a great place to explore on a bike.

The Tiki Pool complex has 21 thrilling waterslides. It also has an indoor tropical zone including the Playa waterpark which has been designed for children up to the age of 12. Visitors can enjoy reduced rates for access.

Another excellent site in the Netherlands is the Lake Resort Beekse Bergen. It has a wonderful theme park and even a safari park. If you stay for three nights or more you get complimentary access to the on-site safari park and the Dierenrijk kids’ zoo.
