Hotel Information – 5-star hotel – The Jupiter Albufeira Luxury Family Hotel has many leisure and fun activities. With so much to do, it is hard to choose a highlight. Albufeira is one of the largest and liveliest resort towns on southern Portugal’s Algarve coastline. It is a former fishing village that now thrives with sandy beaches and the marina is a great base for diving, dolphin-watching and a number of boat trips. The coloured- apartments along the waterfront promenade certainly add to the appeal of this town.
For the kids there is a splash pool with a tipping bucket and sprinklers and all the family will love the pool with water slides including multi-lane racing slides. If you want to explore outside of the hotel there is a free shuttle bus to one of the town’s beaches. There are two on-site restaurants, a buffet and an a la carte as well as a handful of bars. The hotel runs a kids club which is suitable for 4-12-year-olds. Kids can burn off some energy in the mini-disco and there is an evening entertainment programme.
Sports facilities at the hotel include archery, a pool table, tennis courts and a playground. Adults can relax in the spa while the younger ones enjoy the club. All 408 rooms have air-conditioning, a minibar and private furnished balconies. As well as the usual range of rooms this hotel also has spacious family rooms and some rooms enjoy sea views.

The hotel has a village feel with white domed buildings scattered alongside cobbled streets and fountains. You can walk all along the beach to the Praia Grande De Pera and the Praia Da Gale Oeste beaches. The lively city of Albufeira is a 20-minute drive away. Behind the beach, there is a lagoon where you can spot many different kinds of birds or enjoy a walk on one of several boardwalks.
There are three outdoor saltwater pools including one that is 70 metres long. In the summer kids will love the splash pool and there is also a chill-out saltwater pool and an indoor swimming pool. Hotel Information – 5* Hotel – Kolymbaria in Crete is located on the north coast not far from Chania. It is a quiet village that nestles between the sea and the cliffs. The Euphoria Resort is located in a premium position along the shores of Kolymbari. You can choose from cosy tavernas and traditional Greek restaurants which are just a short walk away.
This is one of the best family resorts on this list and is one of the most amazing hotels in Crete. There is so much choice of things to do including an excellent programme of activities. This is an all-inclusive hotel and meals are served in the two themed buffet restaurants. Hotel Information – 5* hotel – Located right next to the historical site of the Tombs of the Kings you will find the wonderful five-star luxury hotel the Elysium. The charming Byzantine architecture and decorative mosaics around the hotel add to the stylish elegance of this hotel. The outdoor pool area is excellent with cascading waterfalls, bridges and plenty of sun loungers. There is even a poolside bar service plus two children’s pools with a waterslide and an indoor pool that is heated in the winter.
You can choose from 5 top restaurants including a pan-Asian and a classic Italian. The hotel runs a modest evening entertainment programme and there is a kids club for 4-12-year-olds.
There is a small manmade beach and a short drive away is Paphos harbour where you can depart on one of the many boat trips. We had a lovely stay at this hotel and their balconies overlooking the sea are certainly worth booking.

Hotel Information – 4* Hotel – We love this hotel in Iceland so much that we are returning soon for a second stay. The Hotel Ranga is certainly up there with luxury hotels and what we love the most is their Northern Lights wake-up service. If the Aurora Borealis is about to show you can opt for them to call you just before it does and you know what it’s worked for us.
It is located out by itself a short drive away from the local town. Because of this, it is a great place for spotting the Northern Lights. There is also an on-site stargazing observatory. Hotel Ranga is located around 1hr25 from the main airport but it is essential to hire a car when you visit Iceland as otherwise you will struggle to get around.
Outside the rooms there are also hot tubs, these aren’t private, however, we’ve never been in ours at the same time as anyone else. There are some lovely views of the surroundings including Mount Hekla. Guests can choose rooms with a spa bath and/or a balcony. The on-site restaurant is excellent and staff will gladly help arrange activities in the local area.

Sol Falco – Spain, Menorca

Hotel Information – 4* Hotel – A family favourite hotel in Menorca is the Sol Falco. It is set on ten acres of picturesque grounds that boast spacious gardens and seven swimming pools. Plus it is located close to a beach and there are plenty of family-friendly activities on-site. Cala’n Bosch nearby has a marina and the historic town of Ciutadella is just a 15-minute drive away.
The outdoor pools include two kids’ pools and a splash park with tipping buckets, jets, water cannons and more. On-site there is a gym, bike hire, basketball and other sports facilities. During their main season, there is daily entertainment including at nighttime with shows, live music and a mini-disco.
There is just one buffet restaurant and two bars. Rooms include suites, rooms for single-parent use, family extra rooms and rooms with a splash park view.

Le Meridien Lav – Split, Croatia

Hotel Information – 5* Hotel – Croatia is rapidly becoming a favourite holiday destination for families so we certainly couldn’t leave it off this list. Located 8km from the city of Split you will find the Le Meridien Lav Hotel which is a great base for exploring the local area. This chic coastal hideaway has a relaxing spa and soothing Roman Baths. You can enjoy some wonderful sea views and the hotel is just 200m away from the nearest bars, restaurants and shops. 50m from the hotel there is a small private pebble beach.
There is a choice of restaurants including an a la carte plus a great selection of bars. Poolwise there is an outdoor pool that is heated in peak season from early June to late September. It is open a month on either side but it is not heated during April and October. Plus there is an indoor heated swimming pool.
There is the occasional daytime entertainment during peak times and also occasional evening entertainment. Plus there is a kids club, mini golf and a children’s playground. Rooms can include a sea view and there are balconies or a terrace. You can try out a number of watersports such as canoeing, kayaking, pedalos, scuba diving, snorkelling and windsurfing, these are all run by an external company (age restrictions apply).

The infinity pool view is amazing as it soaks in the wonderful sea views. You can even sunbathe on a jetty that stretches out into the sea. Plus there are private cabanas that you can rent for the day. You can also paddle from the dinky beach. Onsite there is a swanky beach club that serves snacks and cocktails plus a gourmet restaurant with a menu inspired by the local area.
This is more a hotel for teenagers and their families as there is little here in the way of facilities for younger children. The entertainment only really consists of live DJs at the Beach Club and jazz musicians who sometimes play in the main restaurant. Their luxury double rooms can sleep up to 3 people and you can choose from a terrace or a balcony. Views are either of the sea (some are limited) or the pool.

Landa Beach is 150m away.
This place boasts seven pools and seven restaurants. No stone has been left unturned when it comes to things to do. The pools are joined by a lazy river and the kids’ pool has a pirate ship with water slides. There is an adults-only pool and the indoor pool is one of the largest in Cyprus with whirlpools and waterfalls.
There are seven restaurants on-site including a 50s-style diner, an Asian and a buffet with themed nights, every night. They lead the way with entertainment with everything from magic shows to mini discos, bingo, quizzes and Broadway-themed performances. There is a Little Monsters Kids’ Club for ages 3-12 and also a club just for teens. Other facilities include a games room, tennis courts, mini-football, a daily activity programme and so much more. Rooms include family suites with a sliding partition door for extra privacy. Some of the suites have a private garden and views vary.
