Gran Canaria is such a great family-friendly destination. We had a lovely 2 week holiday there when our son was younger and as well as plenty of time spent at the hotel we also managed to stay close to two excellent beaches.
There are a number of excellent family hotels located on a beach in Gran Canaria plus a few close to a great beach. We have listed our top hotels using reviews and facilities plus of course the beach itself. The sea was lovely and warm when we visited as the temperatures are good pretty much all year round in Gran Canaria.
The scenery in Gran Canaria is simply stunning and there are plenty of family-friendly tourist attractions. It’s the third largest of the canary islands so it’s really easy to drive around and explore.
The following hotels are located next to a beach in Gran Canaria
Bull Costa Canaria and Spa – San Agustin
Address: C. las Retamas, 1, 35100 Playa San AgustÃn-Gran Canaria
Hotel Information – With a stunning beachfront location, the charming Bull Costa Canaria and Spa is a great choice for a family holiday. There are 3 outdoor swimming pools located close to the beach with one pool being heated from early November until early April. The hotel has daily evening entertainment including karaoke, live music, professional shows and quizzes.
For adults, there is a spa with a sauna, steam room, Turkish Bath, whirlpool and massage treatments. Other facilities include basketball, mini-golf, petanque, table tennis, tennis courts and volleyball. Their top-of-the-range rooms include deluxe bungalows with sea views. These have an outdoor whirlpool on the terrace.
Cordial Santa Agueda Resort and Perchel Beach Club – Arguineguin
Address: Urbanización Sector IV, 35128 El Pajar
Hotel Information – With an excellent seafront location, the Cordial Santa Agueda Resort is a wonderful and luxurious holiday home complex. Villas with private pools are available and the hotel has a friendly atmosphere. There is a gorgeous infinity for all guests that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. You can choose from deluxe 2-3 bedroom villas with their own private plunge pool plus two bedroom apartments.
You have a choice of a la carte restaurants including 2 at the Beach Club which is located on the beach. For guests that don’t have their own pool, there are 2 outdoor pools including a children’s pool and there is a splash park. The Beach Club is where the infinity pool is located and guests have free use of the sunbeds Monday-Friday at the club but there is a charge for these at weekends. For children aged 2-12, there is a kids’ club and there is also a playground and an indoor play area.
Hotel Taurito Princess – Playa Taurito

Hotel Information – Tucked away in a tranquil bay you will find the Hotel Taurito Princess. It is situated just steps from a beach and all the rooms have views over the ocean. The bay itself is now the purpose-built resort, Playa Taurito. There are two big outdoor pools, one of which is heated in winter. Children get their own separate pool that also has sunbeds and parasols. Evenings kick off with a mini-disco followed by live music, quizzes and shows.
The board at this hotel is all-inclusive which includes 3 meals a day in the main buffet restaurant, premium branded drinks and some cocktails are chargeable. They have a range of sports facilities and there is an on-site sauna.
TUI Blue Orquidea – Bahia Feliz

Hotel Information – The TUI BLUE Orquidea in Gran Canaria cleverly combines top entertainment for children with a relaxing scene for adults making this an excellent choice for families looking for quality holiday accommodation under the Spanish sun. Younger guests will love the adorable character parades, the activity-packed kids’ clubs and the professionally run shows.
Long, lazy days in the sun can be enjoyed on the gorgeous sandy beach directly outside the hotel plus a very short drive or stroll brings you to a cool go-karting track which is a fantastic activity for all the family to enjoy. For children, there is a splash park with slides, fountains and a tipping bucket. There is also a partially shaded paddling pool for babies. They have a kids’ club for younger children aged 3-5, another for ages 6-11 and a hangout for older children aged 12-15.

Radisson Blu Resort Arguineguin – Arguinegiun

Hotel Information – The Radisson Blu Resort Arguineguin is a family Luxe hotel with a stunning seafront location. It is just 100m from the beach and slightly further on from that there are shops, bars and restaurants. Outdoors there are 3 pools including a children’s pool. Also for children, there is a kids’ club for ages 4-12 and a playground for younger ones. For all the family to enjoy there is regular evening entertainment.
The hotel has a couple of restaurants including a buffet and an a la carte. There is also a spa with a sauna, steam room, whirlpool and massage treatments. Rooms include suites with 3 bedrooms that can sleep up to 8 people plus 2 bedroom suites with sea views and other great choices.
Seaside Hotel Sandy Beach – Playa Del Ingles
Address: Av. de Menceyes, s/n, 35100 Maspalomas
Hotel Information – With just a 5-minute walk to the nearby beach and the centre of Playa Del Ingles the Seaside Hotel Sandy Beach is a popular choice with families. A highlight of this hotel is their hot tub terraces which you can hire out for an afternoon. These are on the 10th and 11th floors and enjoy panoramic views out to sea. There is an impressive outdoor swimming pool with a children’s pool to the side of it.
They have a variety of shows 6 nights a week including live music and dancing. During the school holidays, the hotel runs its own mini-club for the kids. You can take part in their daytime activity programme plus there is scuba diving, a pool table, a tennis court and an outdoor play area.
Gloria Palace Royal Hotel and Spa – Amadores

Hotel Information – Set above the glorious white sandy cove of Amadores Beach is the simply luxe Gloria Palace Royal Hotel and Spa. With stunning views and excellent service, this is a family-friendly luxury. There are 4 outdoor pools including 2 children’s pools, some of which are heated in winter. Children also have a kid’s club for ages 4-12 and a playground for younger ones.
Daily entertainment includes racket sports and family activities. Then in the evening, there is a mini-disco and professional shows. On-site there is a spa with a sauna, steam room, Turkish bath, whirlpool and massage treatments for ages 16 and over. There are two restaurants including an a la carte plus a choice of bars.
LIVVO Hotels Valle Taurito and Waterpark – Playa Taurito
Address: C. Alhambra, 1, 35138 Taurito, Las Palmas
Hotel Information – The LIVVO Hotels Valle Taurito and Waterpark in Playa Taurito offer superb facilities to its guests, including unlimited entry to Lago Taurito Water Park! The water park offers a whole array of rides and slides, with varying levels of speed and scariness! If it’s saltwater that you desire, then the stunning sandy beaches of Playa Taurito are just five minutes away. The hotel is also just moments away from the Playa Taurito resort centre.
The hotel has two outdoor pools including a children’s pool and an aqua park. This has a lazy river, inflatable ring slides, a multi-lane racer and an aqua bowl. Plus there is frequent daytime and evening entertainment.
H10 Playa Meloneras Palace – Meloneras

Hotel Information – This luxury 5* hotel is situated on the seafront, close to the beach. The H10 Playa Meloneras Palace is a perfect choice for families with one wing of the hotel having a livelier atmosphere with activities for the kids. You have 4 outdoor pools to choose from including a children’s pool and adults have an indoor heated pool. Also for children, there is a kids’ club for ages 4-12 and a children’s playground for younger ones.
There is often evening entertainment including professional shows, a mini-disco, quizzes and more. For adults, there is the Despacio Spa Centre and there is also a gym. Other facilities include a pool table, dance classes, table tennis and tennis. Plus there is bike hire.
