Spain is the most popular holiday destination for us Brits. It enjoys plenty of sunny days and has endless soft sandy beaches. Resorts along the Mediterranean coast of mainland Spain balance family-friendly activities with a touch of style and authenticity. We have found some great holiday parks that families will love that are either located on a beach or really close to a beach.
Playa Montroig Camping Resort – Miami Platja, Costa Dorada

Information – Next to the Playa Montroig Camping Resort is a wonderful sandy beach. The site is set within immaculate tropical gardens and it is a great location for families, especially as it is near PortAventura theme park. Around the site, there is a sculpted complex of lagoon pools and waterslides that have been designed with families in mind. There are 3 family pools, a children’s pool and a toddler pool with water games, water jets and a mini slide.
For a range of ages, there are site-run kids’ clubs and the animation team runs an entertainment programme. Also on-site there is crazy golf and 5 playground areas. Plus tennis courts, football, basketball and more.

Information – The Tamarit Beach Resort is located next to a blue flag beach. Many activities are run from the beach such as paddle surfing, kayaking, snorkelling and beach volleyball. On-site there is a swimming pool with a children’s section plus a splash park with sprinklers and waterfalls. For children aged 4-12, there is a kids’ club and also a children’s playground and an indoor soft play area.
Daily entertainment takes place in high season and out-of-season there is still some regular entertainment. Adults can work out in the gym and sports facilities include basketball, football, mini-golf, table tennis and tennis.

Information – Just 200 metres from a stretch of coast that has earned the European Pavillon Bleu Award is the International De Calonge holiday park. It is a terraced park with great views over the Bay of Palamos. The site offers two swimming pools for all the family plus one for younger children. Also for children, there are site-run kids’ clubs for ages 5-8 and 9-12 years.
Plus from late May until mid-September the animation team runs day and nighttime entertainment such as discos, bingo, evening shows, quizzes and more. There are two children’s playgrounds and bike hire for all the family. Other activities include tennis, football and volleyball plus watersports in high season such as scuba diving and kayaking.

Information – Designed with an ancient Roman theme in mind in honour of nearby Tarragona is the Park Playa Bara Campsite and holiday park. It has modern and well-designed facilities perfect for a family-friendly holiday. The pool complex has four pools, six slides, a sauna, a whirlpool, a jacuzzi, a solarium and a spa. Toddlers have their own pool with a splash area with colourful toys, mini slides and fountains.
There are kid’s clubs for ages 5-8 and 9-12 years that are site-run. Entertainment-wise they run lots of different activities such as discos for adults, bingo, evening shows, sports tournaments and theme nights. Also on-site you can challenge your family to a game of crazy golf plus there are 5 playground areas. There are a range of sports facilities including tennis, table tennis, football and volleyball.

Information – There is a beach just a short walk away from Sanguli holiday park plus PortAventura theme park is just 4km away. It is a large and lively park with 5* facilities including four fabulous pool complexes each with its own personality including an Africa-themed pool. You can choose from the Relax Pool with a waterfall and massaging bubbles plus animals in the shallow pool. In the Sports Area and Happy Pool, there are waterslides.
Or you can chill out in the Fiesta Pool complex with a large family pool, more waterslides and a swim-up bar. The Africa Pool has a splash park. The site runs kid’s clubs for ages 4-10, 6-12 and over 12. There are three restaurants to choose from and entertainment such as evening shows, karaoke, theme nights and sports tournaments. Other facilities include crazy golf, cycling, tennis, football, boules, a gym and more.

Information – The holiday park of Cala Gogo has its own private beach and is nestled on a steep hillside. Nearby there is a great variety of bars, cafes and shops. If you want to explore further there is a bus stop directly outside the park. Children will love the pool complex with its fun kids’ pool with elephants and hippos. The pools are heated in cooler parts of the season and there is a restaurant that overlooks the water. There are also three waterslides that are suitable for all the family.
Also for children, there are two site-run kid’s clubs one for ages 5-8 and the other for ages 9-12. In high season there are evening shows, sports tournaments, karaoke and more. Other facilities include 3 playground areas, cycling and sports activities.

Information – With direct access to a sandy beach the El Pinar Village is a favourite with families looking for a quiet corner of the Mediterranean. The park is a car-free zone so you can relax knowing your kids have the space to roam freely. There’s even an on-site petting zoo that they will love. There is a pool complex that is open from late April until mid-September.
For children, there are kids’ clubs for ages 6-12 and 13-17 so even the teenagers will be kept well entertained here. In the summer there are evening shows, aqua gym and karaoke for all the family. Activities include cycling, football, volleyball, scuba diving and there is a running track. Plus there is a playground for children.

Information – Just 100m from a Blue Flag beach is the holiday park Enmar. It is a peaceful site and from the beach, you can book extra activities via the local water sports centre. You can swim in the lagoon-shaped pool that is surrounded by sun loungers.
For kids, there is a paddling pool that has a selection of slides for toddlers and older children. Also for children, there is a site-run kid’s club for ages 2-12. The entertainment team run evening shows and an aqua gym. Other facilities include cycling, basketball, badminton and football and there is a playground.

Cambrils Park – Cambrils, Costa Dorada

Information – Located within walking distance of both Cambrils Port and Salou is Cambrils Park. It has a great pool complex and there is a great beach with watersports just over half a kilometre away. Plus PortAventura theme park is just 8km away. Children will be wowed by the five pool complexes with a pirate ship, dragons, elephants, crocodiles and giant turtles. There are waterslides in each themed area some are just for children and some are for all the family.
For children aged 5-8, there is a site-run kids’ club. You have a couple of restaurants and a cafe that you can eat. Plus entertainment such as family discos, evening shows and theme nights. There are also a couple of playground areas, crazy golf, cycling and sports.
