When our son was little we had a two-centre holiday to Gran Canaria. There are so many great hotels on this island in the Canaries that we couldn’t narrow our choice down to just one hotel. A great number of hotels in Gran Canaria have some excellent pool facilities and many have waterslides with some of these being just for younger kids.
In our post below we have taken a look at some of the top recommended hotels in Gran Canaria for families that also have waterslides. We also outline some of the other great facilities and features at these hotels.
Gran Canaria is a fantastic destination for a family-friendly holiday. Flights are just a few hours from the UK and great weather is pretty much guaranteed all year round. There is also so much for families to do when on holiday here including waterparks, a fantastic zoo, boat trips and so much more.
Maspalomas and Tabaiba Princess – Maspalomas
Address: Av. Touroperador Tui, s/n, 35100 Maspalomas
Hotel Information – At the Maspalomas and Tabaiba Princess younger children have a kid’s splash pool with a safari-themed shallow pool, a couple of flumes and water jets. There are some other kid’s slides some of which children need to be over 120cm in height to use. There are a total of 6 outdoor pools including one just for adults. Their main pool has an exotic feel with over-water bridges, thatched canopies and waterside palms. The Maspalomas Dunes are just a few minute’s drive away.
Entertainment includes live music, a mini-disco and a kid’s club for ages 4-12. The board here is all-inclusive with a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests can enjoy one dinner per stay at their Italian and Asian restaurants when staying 5 nights or more. Selected drinks are also included. There are family rooms and junior suites that sleep up to 4 people.
Riu Gran Canaria – Meloneras

Hotel Information – This seafront hotel has had a major refurbishment in 2023. The Riu Gran Canaria has an amazing ocean view and its kids’ pool has colourful-themed slides and splash zones. You have two huge main pools to choose from, one of which is heated in winter. Adults have their own infinity pool with in-water loungers. There is an additional pool for children which is where the waterslides are located. The hotel even has a 16m2 baby pool.
In the evening there is entertainment for all the family including live music, shows and Riu entertainment. For younger children aged 4-7, there is a kid’s club and a second for older children aged 8-12. There is also a children’s playground, a beach volleyball court, a multi-sports court and bike hire. Adults can relax in the on-site spa and work out in the gym.
Abora Catarina by Lopesan Hotels – Playa Del Ingles

Hotel Information – The Abora Catarina Hotel, near Playa del Ingles, enjoys a fabulous location, just minutes from the local sandy beaches and the famous Maspalomas dunes. Outdoors there are two children’s pools with slides plus a splash park with water guns and a water dome.
This bright and comfortable family-friendly hotel has some excellent facilities on offer, including no less than five swimming pools to enjoy. Plus younger guests have a playground and adults have use of a well-equipped fitness room. For those desiring a quieter break, there are comfortable loungers where you can enjoy a good book and a cocktail.
Abora Interclub Atlantic By Lopesan Hotels – San Agustin

Hotel Information – The Abora Interclub Atlantic is a family-favourite hotel with excellent family-friendly facilities. It is a 24-hour all-inclusive hotel located close to the beach. Outdoors there are 4 pools including a children’s pool, an adult-only pool and there is a splash park. One of the pools has water slides. Also for children, there is a kid’s club for ages 4-12 and a games room with arcade games.
At the hotel, there is frequent daytime entertainment and evening entertainment including bingo, in-house shows, a mini-disco and more. Rooms include double-family rooms and family suites.
HD Parque Cristobal – Playa Del Ingles

Hotel Information – The bright and spacious bungalow-style accommodation at the HD Parque Cristobal Gran Canaria is ideal for families. The villas are available in many different sizes to ensure there is something to suit every family’s needs. Outdoors there are 4 pools including 2 children’s pools and 2 pools with children’s sections plus a splash park. Both children’s pools have slides. The splash area has a tipping water bucket, water cannons, a water dome, a waterfall and more.
The sports facilities at the HD Parque Cristobal are fantastic. They include a yoga retreat, fitness classes, and a cross-fit area. For those hoping for a more relaxing day, beauty treatments are available at the on-site spa. Frequent daytime and evening entertainment is also available plus a playground for younger children.
Lopesan Baobab Resort – Meloneras

Hotel Information – The luxury Lopesan Baobab Resort has an exciting African theme running throughout the property. The hotel enjoys an excellent location, just a ten-minute walk from the beach and just five minutes from the famous Maspalomas Lighthouse. Guests feel that they are enjoying all the adventures of a safari but in Gran Canaria! Jungle-themed gardens surround the hotel and the seven swimming pools, which include a beach pool and a lazy river and the fabulous accommodation takes on an African safari lodge style.
Of the 7 outdoor pools, there is a children’s pool with slides, jets and sprinklers. Sports activities include table tennis and volleyball and there is live entertainment each evening. Live shows take place each day and there is always somewhere beautiful to sit and enjoy a cocktail or other beverage of your choice.
LIVVO Hotels Valle Taurito and Waterpark – Playa Taurito

Hotel Information – The LIVVO Hotels Lago Taurito & Waterpark in Playa Taurito offers superb facilities to its guests, including an on-site water park. The water park offers a whole array of rides and slides, with varying levels of speed and scariness! For those wishing for a quieter way to enjoy the sun, there is another pool tucked away surrounded by comfortable loungers, ideal for a nap in the sun or to catch up on a good book.
Another great thing about this hotel is its location close to a beach and they also have family rooms. All the family can enjoy their daytime and evening entertainment plus there are kids clubs for ages 4-12 and teens aged 13-17. There is even a bowling alley.

Riu Papayas – Playa Del Ingles

Hotel Information – Located near the centre of town and with a free shuttle to the beach the Riu Papayas is a great family-friendly resort. Younger children have their very own pool that has waterslides. The larger main pool is surrounded by sunloungers and glossy palms, it is even heated in winter.
Families can enjoy the Riu evening entertainment programme and there are kid’s clubs for ages 4-7 and 8-12. Other activities include a beach volleyball court, a playground and other daytime activities. Rooms for families include 2-bedroom family rooms. The board is all-inclusive which includes a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner.
TUI Blue Orquidea – Bahia Feliz

Hotel Information – The TUI BLUE Orquidea in Gran Canaria cleverly combines top entertainment for children with a relaxing scene for adults making this an excellent choice for families looking for quality holiday accommodation under the Spanish sun. There is an excellent children’s splash park plus a baby pool for the youngest visitors. One of their pools even has lanes for swimming lengths.
Younger guests will love the adorable character parades, the activity-packed kids’ clubs and the professionally run shows. Long, lazy days in the sun can be enjoyed on the gorgeous sandy beach directly outside the hotel plus a very short drive or stroll brings you to a cool go-karting track which is a fantastic activity for all the family to enjoy.
Radisson Blu Resort and Spa Gran Canaria – Puerto Mogan

Hotel Information – Located in the picturesque Puerto Mogan is the Radisson Blu Resort and Spa. It is a great choice for families and it benefits from a distinctly laid-back atmosphere. There are three outdoor pools including a children’s pool and a splash park. This has jets, sprinklers, tipping water buckets and spouts. Sports facilities include basketball, climbing, a tennis court, a pool table, table tennis and more. There is even an outdoor training and exercise area plus an 800m running track.
They run a great family-friendly daytime and nighttime entertainment program including sports, family activities, live music, a mini-disco and in-house shows. Children can make new friends in their kid’s club for ages 4-12 and there is a children’s playground.

Abora Buenaventura by Lopesan Hotels and Aqualand Waterpark – Playa Del Ingles

Hotel Information – The Abora Buenaventura by Lopesan Hotels doesn’t have an on-site waterpark but your stay via the link above includes Aqualand Waterpark entry. This is one of the largest waterparks in Europe and there is plenty for the whole family here.
At the hotel, there are 3 outdoor pools including a children’s pool, a splash park with sprinklers, a water dome and a waterfall. In the daytime activities include family activities, team games and racket sports. At nighttime, there is frequent entertainment including bingo, in-house shows, karaoke, a mini disco and professional shows. For children aged 4-12, there is a kid’s club and there is a playground for younger children.
