On our bucket list holiday to London, I wanted our son to experience the ultimate places to eat in London. This, of course, had to include a meal at Hard Rock Cafe. There are two in London, one at Piccadilly and the other located at Old Park Lane.

Hard Rock Cafe on Old Park Lane has been at this location since 1971 and has seen some very famous people pass through its doors. It also has a gift shop and The Vault. The Vault is London’s only rock n’ roll museum. It’s a treasure trove featuring the most valuable pieces of music memorabilia from across the globe.

Disclaimer: We received a complimentary meal for the purpose of my review.

Arriving at Hard Rock Cafe London, Old Park Lane

Located on a main road in Mayfair the Hard Rock Cafe on Old Park Lane is hard to miss. It’s in a grand building with big brown canopies outside and red ropes at the entrance. There are two underground stations just a short walk away – Hyde Park Corner and Green Park Station.

I highly recommend that you book a table in advance. Although you may be allocated a table without a reservation you may have a one-hour wait or longer. If you do have to wait you are handed a pager that will buzz when your table is ready. You can visit the shop and the Vault while you wait. You are also able to order drinks from the bar and they have a few tables with heaters outside.

Inside the Hard Rock Cafe London

The first thing you will notice about the Hard Rock Cafe in London is that they play great rock music. What they play is also shown as the video on TVs around the restaurant. Our son loved this and he was often dancing in his seat. You will also notice the huge array of rock memorabilia around the restaurant. They had all sorts of wonderful original items such as outfits from The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John and more.

Kids Menu

The Hard Rock Cafe is great for families and they have a menu for children aged 10 and under. Best of all their food is served on a guitar plate, what a great idea! There’s a great American-themed selection of food for them to choose from ranging from burgers to hot dogs, chicken tenders and more.

The little one chose Razzi’s™ Redonkulous chicken tenders. “Hand-breaded chicken tenderloins, fried golden brown served with fries. Comes with honey mustard & BBQ sauce on the side.” He declared them as the best chicken he’d eaten in a long while.

Starters

When we walked in we noticed the most wonderful plate of nachos. My Mum and I are both fans so we opted for a sharing dish to start. They were fabulous. There is a good range of shareable dishes at the Hard Rock Cafe London including a jumbo combo, spring rolls, wings, sliders and of course nachos.

We opted for Classic nachos “Crisp tortilla chips layered with ranch-style beans and a four-cheese sauce blend, topped with fresh pico de gallo, spicy jalapeños, pickled red onions, melted cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, and green onions served with sour cream on the side.

Add Guacamole, Grilled Chicken, or Grilled Steak, for an additional charge.” They were so tasty, especially with the addition of the fresh pico de gallo and the ranch-style beans.

Main courses

The main meals again were traditionally American with a great range of burgers, fajitas, steaks, mac and cheese, chicken, ribs and more. My Mum opted for the Original Legendary burger. “The burger that started it all! 1/2-lb fresh steak burger, with smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, crispy onion ring, leaf lettuce and vine-ripened tomato, served with our signature steak sauce on the side.” She announced it to be excellent and thoroughly enjoyed this classic choice.

I opted for chicken fajitas. The portion size was enormous. I had four wraps and plenty of chicken and vegetables. “Classic Tex-Mex-style fajitas, served with fresh pico de gallo, Monterey Jack and cheddar cheese, house-made guacamole, sour cream and warm tortillas. Your choice of Grilled Chicken, Grilled Steak, Grilled Shrimp, Duo Combo, Trio Combo, or Veggie Fajitas.” I was very happy with my choice.

Desserts

My Mum and I couldn’t indulge in a dessert after our two large dishes. However, the little one did and he enjoyed their classic cheesecake. “Rich and creamy NY-style cheesecake served with thin layers of chocolate and caramel sauce finished with sprinkles of toffee-almond crunch.” They also have milkshake desserts, apple cobbler and ice cream.

We had a wonderful meal and our hotel was just a short walk away.
