Haven is one of our favourite Holiday Park chains to visit. It is worth noting that touring options vary and not all allow campers with tents, caravans, motorhomes and trailer tents. These sites also have static caravans to rent.

Top tip if you are looking for the biggest pitch possible it pays to enter the largest caravan size allowed on that particular site. You also get allocated a bigger pitch if you select an awning (we rarely take our awning though!). If you click on a link in this piece, we may earn affiliate revenue.

Hafan Y Mor Haven, Pwllheli, Wales

Pitches – The largest pitches available for a tourer are – Euro Hard Standing with Awning. Approx. pitch size 8.5m x 7m (28ft x 23ft). A touring pitch with a hardstanding base that has connection points for Electric hook up, drinking water, wastewater disposal and TV point. These pitches also have space for an awning and are for motorhomes or touring caravans.

A little bit about the site from a touring caravan owner –  “We stayed at Hafan y Mor last year and it was such a nice site. Pitches were huge and the whole touring part is maintained by a lovely couple who are constantly tidying and cleaning and looking after you. Very friendly and didn’t feel like you were on a huge commercial site at all. Would highly recommend that”.

“I’d recommend Hafan y Mor in North Wales, pitches are grandstanding with gravel for awning and a large side of the grass, fully serviced pitches. The shower block is lovely and clean. 300 yards or so from the entertainment and bus stop. It is about 3/4 mile walk to the beach, but you can take the car closer. 5* Read more about the site here in a review by the Coastal Mummy.

A quote from Haven – “Looking for a bit more? We have action galore in our large, gently undulating park on the Llyn Peninsula. Think deserted beaches, wildflowers and the Snowdonia National Park.

Inside our park, we have so many fun activities, including Aeriel Adventure! But with gardens, woodland walks and our own pebbly beach, you might choose to do – nothing at all.”

Haggerston Castle Haven, Northumberland

Pitches – Largest pitches available for a tourer are – Extra large Hardstanding Super with Awning. Approx. pitch size 9.1m x 8.5m (30ft x 28ft). For the larger units, a touring pitch with a hardstanding base that has connection points for the following: Electric hook up, drinking water and wastewater disposal. These pitches also have the added benefit of parking next to them. They have pitches for touring caravans and motorhomes plus smaller pitches for tents with fewer facilities.

A little bit about the site from a touring caravan owner – I wanted to include a site in Scotland. I included Craig Tara Ayr because it’s got the biggest pool I’ve ever seen and no one had recommended anywhere up north. One of my readers said “We think it’s terrible for tourers. Tourers are away up the back and shower facilities are small and not very good. I much prefer Haven Haggerston castle.” And so, for this reason, we are including Haggerston Castle.

A quote from Haven – “Family adventures on the Northumbrian coast…Our pretty woodland park is on an old castle estate with a remaining tower. And, you’ll certainly live like kings here in Northumberland as we have lots going on.

Our tempting line-up includes a pool, a ropes course and pony riding. But with shady paths and trails, you can go for a stroll or bike ride around the park – and lose yourself among the trees. Anyone for hide and seek?”.

A little bit about the site from a touring caravan owner – “Kiln Park is our favourite haven site… lovely site… clean plenty of room and usually good entertainment… we normally go Sept / Oct”.  Rennas Discoveries says that Tenby Haven is incredible. Best park I’ve been to.

A quote from Haven – “Perfect for the best of Tenby… Bring your hiking boots to our scenic Welsh park – there are some world-famous walks here. We’re on a flat coastal plain, slap bang in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. So you can wander easily between sports venues or stroll down an undulating path to the shore. Unless you get waylaid by our pools and opt to spend hour after hour splashing in your swimsuit!”

The camping area is about a three-minute walk from the entertainment complex where there is an indoor pool, outdoor pool, and arcade, there is a wide variety of entertainment in the pub for kids and adults. It’s a great site”.

A quote from Haven – “Gateway to the magnificent Lakes. Our park is on a flat coastal plain so it’s easy to get around – even for little legs! But we’re surrounded by peaks, views of Morecambe Bay and glittering lakes – so you might want to pack your hiking boots and explore further afield.

A little bit about the site from a touring caravan owner – “We like Perranporth’s large pitches and clean toilets. A good site.” –  “We’ve had lovely “super” Pitches at Perran Sands and Kiln Park. The basic pitches are very squashed at both and in high season quite rowdy.

Both these parks have new toilet facilities. The new facilities in Perran Sands with the eco grass roofs are lovely”. – “Perran Sands, Perranporth. They have super-sized Euro pitches, massive. A great site near the beach.”
A quote from Haven – “On Perranporth’s famous beach. Our undulating clifftop park is spread across some high sand dunes – so we have great views of the sea below us. Set off on one of our footpaths to the long stretch of sand – and have a picnic.

Or take the coastal path to Perranporth. You can surf, play Frisbee – or help the kids make an epic sandcastle. Then, shhh, you can always escape for an afternoon snooze in the dunes”.
