Danby Lodge National Park Centre

Danby Lodge National Park Centre, formerly The Moors National Park Centre is located a short drive from Whitby, North Yorkshire. The centre is located on the outskirts of the moorland village of Danby and depending on which direction you visit from you will hopefully drive through some spectacular scenery.

What can you do at Danby Lodge National Park Centre?

The buildings are part of a former shooting lodge set on the banks of the River Esk. There are free and paid for family-friendly trails around the park which you can enquire about when you arrive. Inside there is a relatively new exhibition space with various interactive displays aimed at children. There is also a small climbing wall area for smaller children with soft mats on the floor.

Outside there is a wooden adventure playground with a few things to play on. There is a fun Salmon Labyrinth that’s longer than it looks plus a woodland kitchen for messy play. In Crow Wood, there are a number of fairy houses to find and other sculptures. We found a magnificent wooden dragon on our walk back to the centre plus a small obstacle course.

There is a cafe serving hot and cold drinks and food.

Picturesque park with interactive exhibits, a small climbing wall, an outdoor play area, trails, sculptures and more. There are toilets and a cafe.

What are the ticket prices?

FREE. The centre is free to visit (you must pay to park). Some activities may have a small charge. Prices are subject to change and/or discounts online.
