The Fitzwilliam Museum is located in the centre of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. It is the art and antiquities museum of the University of Cambridge.
The museum was founded in 1816 under the will of Richard FitzWilliam and comprises one of the best collections of antiquities and modern art in Western Europe. There are over half a million objects and artworks in its collections and the displays in the museum explore world history and art throughout history.
There are five departments that include antiquities from ancient Egypt, Nubia, Greece and Rome plus many other pieces. They also host touring exhibitions.
