Things to do at Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens review

Abbotsbury subtropical gardens are an 18th century garden with rare plants. It is probably one of the best gardens of its type in the world winning awards. The gardens have been described by Alan Titchmarsh as “One of the finest gardens I have ever visited”. Located in Abbotsbury between Bridport and Weymouth in Dorset.

There is a fabulous walled garden set in 20 acres of woodland valley. The area has a unique micro-climate which means many rare and exotic species from all over the world thrive here. The gardens are well known for special events including their impressive “Enchanted Illuminations”.

Kids will enjoy playing in the children’s adventure play area. Plus there is a nature trail and a sunken garden with golden pheasants. New for 2020 is the Wonderland sculpture trail. This features beautiful sculptures by Robert James Workshop Ltd including Peter Rabbit, Alice in Wonderland, the Owl and the Pussycat and more.
